Energy Healing and Trauma Release - it’s not as strange as you think.
Throughout life, everyone has to deal with energy. There’s the energy of others, energy for the day, not enough energy and so on. All of these energetic states are reflections of your own ‘energy state’, plus the meaning you ascribe to each of them.
In biological terms, humans obtain energy from three types of fuel molecules: carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. The potential chemical energy of these molecules is transformed into other forms, such as thermal, kinetic, and other chemical forms.
Similarly, plants utilise energy from sunlight and glucose and distribute that energy to grow and to photosynthesise. Underlying all of these life sustaining energy flows, is intelligence.
Intelligence is the deep impulse which, to be expressed in material terms requires some unit of energy or force to organise all matter, including your body. You could consider genetics a form of intelligence, whereby instructions are expressed and carried out, beyond your conscious control within the cells of the body, at all times, to maintain your health and organisation - thus maintaining life.
How does Trauma change your energy?
Think of a traumatic event that happened to you. Consider the impact that event had on you, how it affected you at the time, and what it meant for your life after that trauma. Maybe your trauma even affected your loved ones or your direction in life?
When trauma happens, in energetic terms, your body goes into a ‘fight-flight’ or ‘stress’ response to protect you from threat. This reptile-like response is your own inbuilt safety mechanism that unconsciously engages to support you, keep you alive and safe. This deeply neurological response changes your awareness, hormones, ability to concentrate and especially your energy. Believe it or not - this is an extremely ‘intelligent’ response.
Although on the surface, your response to trauma may not seem intelligent, it is definitely intelligent by design. As you decompress or heal from trauma, it is the ‘intelligence of holding on’ that protects you from completely falling apart. In many situations, this organising wisdom seems completely beyond your personal control.
Problems naturally arise after Trauma, which in energetic terms can be understood as a ‘layering’ of undigested information or a ‘build-up’ of energy . This energy can be felt in the body as tension, and people can sense it in you. This is your body ‘stuck’ in stress mode.
How do I know if my Energy is ‘off’?
It’s way more complex than just ‘feeling down’. There’s a Chinese Proverb which says ‘the body weeps the tears the eyes will not’. In essence, this proverb points to a challenge we all face. After any significant trauma, you process things differently, you think and feel differently, you sometimes even behave differently, eat and sleep at different times, the list goes on. Essentially after a trauma, you become a completely different person.
Now, think back to what I was saying earlier, through the lens of ‘energy’ as a means of understanding what’s going on here. Simply put, trauma causes your body to bind (or build up) energy. As a result, your system then behaves as if the original stress is still around (that’s called being triggered) and many people struggle to get out of this state.
A huge missing piece of the path to healing from trauma is working with your BODY! Your body has a memory, it has automatic reflexive responses, physical sensations, from pain to pleasure and it is responsible for the experience of emotions. Your body holds the energy of trauma until you find the appropriate way to release it. As you process and release this held stress and energy, your body can more deeply heal.
Network Spinal Care - Supporting your body to release held energy and trauma.
Every day in practice, I help people find a more ‘connected experience of peace and calm’, so the entire nervous system functions at a calmer, more harmonious level. Network Spinal Care works to teach you how to use your energy and awareness to reorganise your experience of your ‘self’ and your body. It’s a unique approach to help release the energy of trauma, held within your body.
It’s in a state of peace and calm that you can truly process, and unbind held energy. Precisely how we do this is the subject of another Blog post. However just for now, know that Network Spinal Care evolved out of Chiropractic as a means of teaching people how to interact with and experience their own energy in order to unravel the various layers of held stress. This in turn can release your body’s powerful healing capacities, and reorganise you into a calmer, clearer, more coherent happy version of you. It can help you to finally ‘put the past, behind you’.
If you’ve been noticing you’re just not the same after a personal trauma and need support to move on from your trauma, Network Spinal Care may be able to offer you precisely what you’re looking for.
